PASCO, WASHINGTON – In 1999, Jeff Gordon decided to try a new Cabernet Sauvignon clone on his property in the heart of the Columbia Valley of Washington State. He obtained the vines from UC Davis in California – enough to plant one acre – and decided it would be a great experiment.

That experiment has paid off for Gordon Brothers Cellars. The “Clone 6” vines have flourished on Gordon’s property overlooking the Snake River, and they increased the planting of this clone to 5 acres. On September 1, 2010, Gordon Brothers Cellars released their 2008 “SIX,” made from those Clone 6 vines. “We decided to bottle it because it produced grapes of great intensity, flavor and color,” says Jeff, and many wine critics are already taking notice. Paul Gregutt of the Wine Enthusiast gave it a 91 point rating, and Jay Miller of the Wine Advocate gave it 90 Points, saying “Deep purple-colored, it displays an excellent bouquet of balsam wood, Asian spices, tobacco, violets, black cherry, and black currant. This is followed by a sweetly-fruited, layered, medium-bodied wine with good depth and grip, excellent balance, and 2-3 years of aging potential. Drink this tasty effort through 2023.
