2000 Late Harvest Gewürztraminer

ESTATE GROWN - Columbia Valley

Vintage
Temperatures during the 2000 growing season were even and moderate for the Columbia Valley. Those fair conditions allowed for a slow, uniform ripening. Fall was long and mild, allowing our whites to retain their fruit aromas and an excellent acid balance. Our 2000 Late Harvest Gewurztraminer grapes were harvested on the last week of October.

Winemaking
Directly after pressing, the juice was cooled for a few days in stainless steel vats in order to settle any solids. We racked the juice on the third day, added yeast and started very cool tank fermentation. Low temperatures of 55 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit help express the true varietal flavors of our Gewurztraminer. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine was settled for a few weeks, filtered and bottled in early January.
Winemaker Notes
Remarkable for its elegance, the delicate nose of this wine offers distinctive aromas of ripe pear and citrus. Impeccably balanced between sweetness and acidity, the mouth is very generous with its complex integration of candy, rose petal, and lychee flavors. A long, velvety aftertaste outlines the depth and richness of our 2000 Late Harvest Gewurztraminer. Enjoy with blue cheese on fresh bread, a fruit salad, or simply as a refreshing wine before dinner.
